I learned a lot this week in the reading about "First- and Second- Generation Immigrant Women Speak of Living Inbetween Cultures," particularly about Asma Gull Hasan.  I learned a great deal about the Muslim culture from her reading that I had only assumed before from the skewed material I've seen from the news.  I did not realize that the Qur'an gave women that kind of status and honored them as much as they did.  It really was an interesting reading and a learning experience at the same time! --Ashley Wilkins

I thought the "Hard-hatted Women" essay in MAW was amazing!  To learn that she became an electrician and managed to hide her pregnancy for 6 months before finally going on maternity-type leaving was just incredible!  I was sad that she had a miscarriage, but was really impressed with how her co-workers supported her.  --Ashley Wilkins
