| + | The "Conspiracy of Silence" regarding the Montgomery bus boycott was an interesting facet that I hadn't known about. However, I recalled the movie "Mississippi Burning," and remembered that while much of the white racism was overt, the police harrassment of many blacks and some sympathetic whites was often covert. Its clear the Mrs. Durr was stopped and ticketed for driving a black woman to work, but obviously the police officer wouldn't state that aloud. He was probably following a policy laid down by his police chief that was given orally, so that they could deny such a policy existed. | ||
