| − | + | In this reading I believe that the "Problem Yhat Has No Name" is some kind of depression. I say that because obviously these women are lacking something from their life. They feel unfulfilled. They want to be recongnized for something more than just being a house wife, mother and so on. I think too because this expected steriotype of women was so strong during that time that they felt they could do nothing about it, because they couldn't even really put a name to what they felt. Having a job meant a lot to most of these women. Betty Jeanne Bogg's reading just proves that she is one of many who love there job very much. She states that several times through out her reading. She loved her children and in the end was glad she did stay home with them but in the beginning she was really torn because she "really enjoyed that job." (210) Also in Vicki L. Ruiz's article I thought it was interesting how she mentions that "wages gave women a feeling of independence." (349) Even though her article is about mexican american women, I think that statement holds true for all women during that time. Having that indepence of a job and earning their own money filled the missing thing, and was the fix I think to the "Problem That Has No Name." --Michelle M. | |
