New page

Pursell starts the introduction by pointing out that technology drives our thought process to the future. That is very true. Coming in to this class I immediately believed I would be learning simply about the evolution of the higher tech items and how they affected American culture. All technology starts somewhere. Someone finds a simple solution to a simple problem and it gets modified and mass produced for others to use. I agree that each item actually becomes a piece of wide spread technology when social changes are made around it. Originally these social changes were made to except modernization; where are we going? What do we have left, clean fuel and ways to get lazier?

The NY Times article was amusing. I had quite a fun time laughing at my parents when I realized that they coolest new thing for their schools was liquid paper and now we are mass producing smart white boards and iPads for educational purposes. This article proved to me that the old technology does not go away, it just changes. Our white boards think and our pencils have erasers now.
